Well it was a banner day yesterday here in vanland.I FIANLLY got my van out on the road.I have been working 16-18 hour days on my vacation to get it road ready. Finally at 2:30 am sat morning the time came.Road test time. What a blast driving her after soooo long.I have had my 65 for 22+ years now,and it's not been driven on the road since the day I drove it home(broke a brake line and crashed into a friends van...oops)Anyway feels great to have her out again. It's roughed in and in primer but I took her to the local summer carshow (ready a bit late for the Nat's) that my club puts on.I can't believe the attention that it received.I have never seen so many people looking at anything that I have ever driven to a show.Everything said was positive except for 2 $*&@@$^ people who said it was a pile and I had no right to have it there.AHHH what do they know. It's a van thing.I am planning on going to Nat's in PA in '05.Special thanks go out to Wookie,Painterchris,Ben Zech,Yeggster,Rich Linkel, and all of you guys here at VCVC for helping me make my longtime dream come to life...AC... http://www.vcvc.org/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.vcvc.org/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.vcvc.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Well we put about 100 miles on her on Sat-Sun.Working good so far.Anything that holds fluids that I havn't changed is now leaking(oilpan, trans seals, pinion seal).Other than that no problems.Even taught the wife to drive 3 on the tree. She did really good too.Still have a clutch and gears too.She will be doing some of the driving to the '05 NAT'S.Steers straight and the disc brakes stop straight and really well. Why again am I still using 4 wheel drum on the Chevelle???If you get the chance to go discs,DO IT...Best mod you will ever do for the mechanical end of things...AC... http://www.vcvc.org/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.vcvc.org/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.vcvc.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

As they say in the Jeep world (my other state of mind) "if it doesn't leak... it's DRY!"

Well, got mine on the road yesterday...runs like a top...just need to do some fine tuning, get the bumpers on, get some parts chromed (BTW: anyone know of a good chromer on the east coast?) right now I am running it in black primer, probably will for awhile, have no idea what color to paint it...I will post pictures this w/e.

BZ, check with your local motorcycle shops, they know the best chrome shops in the area. You might also try to call Fatman. Is this the tubbed van?

Get a copy of a biker rag. There's ads in it for chromers, show quality stuff, i.ve looked local and the epa along w/local treehuggers drive out all the pros.

You guys are giving me some inspiration, maybe I'll catch up before long. BZ, I've used Graves Plating a few times on motorcycle parts, you might try them. It's been about four years, so I don't know how their prices would be now. I got good service and quality from them. They're at: www.gravesplating.com (http://www.gravesplating.com)
