I did this a couple of years ago. Also sent a set-up to Smiley for his van. It is simple, works great.

The cable is from Speedway in Nebraska.

Looks very interesting, a cable that will PUSH? These could replace our shifter rods too. Think I will work on that when time permits Henry

The picture is decieving. This cable set up "pulls" Look closely at the pictures.

I have about 2000 miles on the set-up. It has worked well so far.

As for the shift rods. I had a neighbor who put a 4-speed and a bulit 400 Pontiac in a 90". he bolted the shifter tp the side of the frame rail just in front of the doghouse, then ran 1/2" rods back to the 4-speed.

I am not sure how streetable the set up wouild be. . . but he turned 12.00's in the mid-1970's.

John, I believe Henry was talking about the Taz set-up that looks like a push set-up.

I do have a question for Mac. does the L bracket on the sheath mounting pivot to follow the curve of the pedal arm's travel?

Yes it does, this set up has been working perfect since installing it. I think this is the best way to go if your doing a v8 swap...

What length is needed? Would this 5 footer do the job? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/B-M-SHIFT-CABLE-AUTOMATIC-TRANS-ONLY_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em20Q2el1116 QQitemZ230289976844

P.S I have the correct cable end for the hookup at the carb. The picture shows a fabbed L-bracket that has been changed.
B.W may have extras as well as i sent him a bunch o different ones...You need one let me know...

Doesn't need to. The cable sheath has a pivoting guide sleeve at each end that provides support during pushing, etc.
