This is listed as a Sportvan with 49k original. Well, it looks a bit rougher than 49k should look. In addition, it's a panel, not a Sportvan. Based on the fact that the owner doesn't know it's not a Sportvan, I'd say the odometer's reading is likely off by 100k as well. However, it's still a nice looking van that claims to "run great".

Nice going on noticing the welded pieces under the wipers! Could be a myriad of reasons for them; wrong wiper motor with too wide a range, worn and saggy linkage (I hate when that happens http://www.vcvc.org/ubb/wink.gif ), or simply a poor wiper adjustment. Also very interesting that you never got a reply. Maybe since he's already gotten bids, he's not interested in entertaining questions regarding his (handy?) work. However, his high bidder doesn't appear to have a good track record. My guess is that the seller will get stiffed by that bidder, if he wins, and will end up relisting the van.

Well, he finally got back to me. Says that he`s in the process of moving. Says that the pieces are wiper arm holders and are NOT welded but screwed. He also says that there are some rust patches around the windshield but only need some sanding and brown paint. Mike
P.S.
Check out item # 593683088 on E-Bay. It`s a NOS inside sun visor that I think will fit the vans.

one bad part about this site is now that those cats with the vans know that a hungry market exists(us vcvc members) for the early chev's i've noticed that the prices are starting to cycle up quite a bit on these entry level projects.it seems that smiley with this site is starting to rekindle many folk's interest in saving these old vans from their deaths as well as others looking in on making money off of our hobby.not sure if thats good or bad.better grab up the good deals while they last because i have a feeling that the early chev's will soon be the new street rods of tomorrow.and i'm sure you all know what a nice street rod commands in todays market.just a thought.but something to think about now before its out of all our price range.

Oddly, I agree with Tom on this, and I've said as much before, all the other cool old cars have been snapped up, so the market eventually will turn to vans. This may be good if you already own one (or three) but kinda sux if you are still looking. The fact that these vans aren't selling at the ridiculous prices seen says that fad hasn't quite reached us yet, but I'm quite sure it will within a few years.

In a way, it's almost a shame that the interest is taking so long to hit because in the meantime, there are some real gems out there rotting away. It's hard for us to pick up every one we see, although we sure try.
Our vans' parts are the cheapest of any vehicle I've ever dealt with, so I wouldn't mind paying double the price for parts if they were now in reproduction and we could stop the cannibalization.
On the other side of the coin though, the increased interest would make it harder to pick up vans at a cheap price. In addition, we'd have to start dealing with the money driven people who will see our vans as an "investment", not merely the beautiful vehicles that they are.
