While it may seem obvious to some, it's obvious to me that many aren't checking their PMs, Private Messages. I know because very few I send ever get answered. It's a useful tool for sending more personal info to a user that you may not want to post in an open thread, (ie, phone numbers, addresses, bra sizes).
How do you know if you have received a PM?
There's a notification at the top of the screen next to your login info that will show you if, and how many messages you have.

If you click that link, it will take you to your profile page (hopefully, you've been there) and you can view your private messages. You can also upload photos to your member gallery there as well, but we'll get to that later.
If you want to send a message to someone. Obviously, you can reply to messages in the quick reply box below your incoming message. The fastest way to initiate a message to a user if you are viewing a thread is to click their on their name next to their post. An option box will pop up, where you can choose several different actions, including Private Message.
