I`ve enjoyed my G20 cargo van for the past 24 years but the body is too far gone now. I`m looking for another one but prefer nothing newer than `78. Definitely don`t want a computer controlled model. I would consider a first or second gen but are these capable of pulling a loaded car trailer?

If you are talking about a car hauler trailer, that might be a bit on the dangerous side. Try posting the question in GENERAL DISCUSSION area. There are a few that tow travel trailers that could better inform you.

Towing safety is extremely important.

I don't feel the 1st or 2nd gen forward control van is a good platform for towing. Many reasons for this, including less than ideal brakes, wheelbase, steering, etc. What you need is a vehicle suitable for towing, i.e. a fullsize 3/4 ton truck. Anything less is compromising towing safety.

3rd gen vans are much better suited for towing.
We do have a member here towing a good sized camper with his 1st gen .
He did do a good bit of work to it to pull a camper.

I would be interested in your 77's greill if it is a chrome one

Thanks for your replies. I suspected the early vans weren`t up to towing, so will limit my search to 3rd gen.
