Is it my brain, is the this site, whatever it is, I need a calendar to time how long it is taking to post a REPLY on VCVC. All my other sites a lightning quick. But not here, it is taking forever to post. I'm sad.

This hosting company has been experiencing slow periods late at night. I'm going to find out how much longer our contract with them is for. I don't expect that they will improve, so we will look into changing hosting services when we can.

Is that vBulletin Solutions that is causing the problem. Doesn't look like they are holding up to their end of the contract. Null and Void!!!!.

Just like with the picture posting issues I noticed a differance between my Mozzilla and IE.
just now 4-162012 1158 AM....Mozzilla was really slow and IE went quick.
I was thinking my puter was getting sick again.........

I loged on Tues.nite, site came up as V Bulletin page instead of VCVC home page.Scrolled down to find Home (or some other wording ) to get to our site. Googled it and same thing. Wed. Morning went to our home page not V Bulletin. Have noticed it being slow to change pages sometime ,I'm usally not in sucha hurry to wait a couple of seconds to change pages.

Did it come up in the gray & white pattern instead of the VCVC black & blue? It may have been when we were tweeking the site.

It's not really vbulletin or the hosting company being at fault....it's a combo of things....

not all programs or sites work the same with every browser....some ppl update their web browsers frequently, others....never. there is often a mac/PC difference too. We had to update our site. If we wouldn't have, then we would be left behind....and not be able to use certain features that other sites could use....(the picture thing is an example).

Our site is BIG. There are alot of files...14 years worth of pictures, posts, etcs. That in itself can cause slowness.....timing out. I've found that the MAIN problem causing the timing out are the web spiders & crawlers....they have been causing the site to crash. We've been trying to implement ways to keep them out....but then we won't come up in listing for web searches & that kinda defeats one of our purposes....to be out there to help ppl and give info about our vans.

All that being said....thank you all for being so patient.

Amie and Smiley,

I recommend pair.com. Domestic hosting, based in Pittsburgh, green powered, good tech support (not off-shored), not rock-bottom price but not expensive either.

But this is aggravating as hell. It is taking about 45 seconds from the time I click on a topic for it to open. We are going to start losing people because they get tired of waiting. This host company needs to Sh&* or get off the pot. This is nuts. Again, I am not blaming you Smiley, but dang.

Yeah, refreshing a page or opening another is real slow tonight. In all honesty, its one reason i post a bit more on Vintage-Vans. Dont be mad, i'm just being honest. And while I'm at it...isnt there a selection of smileys to choose from to "enhance" my posts?

Hate to bitch here, but it is taking sometimes up to 2 minutes to reply to a post. Same for going from Doghouse to General Discussion sections. It is not my computer because You Tube, Ebay and all other sites work just fine. Are any solutions on the horizon? I losing interest.

greg, what browser are you using? i was on last night at the same time & was having problems. We will more than likely have to change hosting companies.

Much better tonight. Like it use to be.

our hosting company ran a 48 hour test on the site analysiting the data....they tell me that it the problems may be related to compatibility issues with different browser..... I had to update my firefox to 12 and it runs MUCH MUCH better....

Made some changes to the back end of the site tonight. Thank you Amie for the lead and help. The site should be running quicker now, for good.

I have been trying to add photos to the members photo gallery and receive a " 403 forbidden" code ? I'm using Firefox, same problem with Explorer.

When we were hacked a couple months ago, the server access to the gallery was damaged. I've yet to figure out what happened to it.

I'm working on a new gallery option at the moment.

Is it just me. But even with having a new computer, this site, VCVC, is so slow it is a PITA to post anything. I visit several other car and truck sites and they are all normal speed, but this site takes forever. Very Frustrating

It's called 'getting hacked and having no time to repair massive damage to the site structure'. One 80+ hour week left on this show.

Seriously, I'm amazed that the site is working at all in the condition that it's in.
