I'm STILL running a points distributor. I wanna change it out to an HEI setup. The nearest wrecking yard wants $50 for one. A look at EBay, and I see plenty of brand new ones for less, as well as for lots more. I'm not sure which one to get. I'm not necessarily looking for the cheapest one I can find, and I don't require top of the line. I'm more a bang-for-the-buck kinda guy. So, any recommendations, pros/cons, things to avoid? I'm running an almost stock 307.

I've had good luck with an eBay cheapie no-name HEI. I bought it 2 years ago, installed in the wikivan, and been running good ever since. Cost about $60 on eBay. Was not a skip white, was from one of the other sellers. I'm sure it is from china, but it worked fine, and has given me no problems.

I am running a pertronix unit in my camaro's original distributor. Works great, was easy to install and looks stock, clears the firewall.

I one time purchased a brand new Accel Billet HEI. It was DOA out of the box. So if you buy an Accel, save the receipt.

Your mileage will vary.

Myself, if an original GM part is available, I will go that route.

I put one in Amie's '69 from Speedway Motors, for about $130.
