If any of you have pulled the rear gear out of a GM diff. you must have encountered the crazy pin that has to come out before the larger one and the axles release and the gear can be removed. I was trying to replace the axle seals...Apparently the thing is about 3 inches long and only threaded on the first 1/2 inch or so...When wrenching it loose.. it snaps off right at the end of the threads and leaves a thread or less and the remainder of the pin inside the housing. I've seen remedies on youtube, talked to others..Turbo had a couple suggestions..and aside of pulling the entire housing out from under my van can anybody please tell me what they did?
If I was to just drive it, would there be an issue literally..down the road? Other than some whine it seems to be okay so far. Ive put about 150 miles on it with the pin broken..Drove to Pasadena Sunday...
Any info is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Ive seen the long drill bit and easy-out trick but not with the "special bolts"..Thats a great idea! I see that the replacement bolts are available from them too.
Looking into ordering..
Thanks Gregg!!

I see the price went up slightly, but it's still a deal even if you only use it once.

I know very well the feeling of hopelessness when you pull out the broken end of the bolt... and realize the rest is still in that inaccessible spot.
