At the Tax Commission and they are saying my vin number isn't correct.
Could someone read my vin and decode it totally.
Thanks in advance.
Charley

Ok, I found a second vin number stamped in the floor directly over to of where the gas tank lives.
1st gens might be in a different location.
What is your D.M.V saying your van is suppose to be ?

i have also found vin # between the gas tank strap threaded hooks on the
front side of the crossmeber that is right after the rear end, it was stamped in
the steel with good sized letteres, i have found it there on first and second gens.

I know the vin # is correct, I need to be able to tell
them what part of the vin # tells them the year and maker, and model.

first digit is the body, G second and third are the body, 10 forth is body type, 0
the fifth is the last digit of the year,1 the sixth is the plant. P and the remainder is
the serial #
so according to your # G1001PD3564W you have a 1961 chevy G10. they did not
show anything for the 0 on the body type. so they are right it does not make sense
because they did not build a g10 in 1961. better double check title and the vin plate on the
vehicle. this is info I found on 60/65 gm vin decoding.

The GMC vans have a different coding system. Someone with a GMC will have to chime in.

I just tried checking out 60s gmc vin decoding, 60/64 is one way 65/66 in another and 67/70 is
yet another, was not able to come up with anything that made sense to me. need more time to
kick over some more rocks, but I`m heading out to the last truck in of the year tonight so will
have to wait till sunday if my head is still up and functioning after this weekend. later
