I am getting to the end of my very long To Do list. Just getting done with small stuff now. I put some step grit paper down on my front steps. I needed a little contrast from the black and some safety as well. Has anyone slipped out of the van so to speak! I did and landed on my knee.Ouch. Printed the white letters for the defrost/air front too.
It was beautiful today so I drove around and listened to my stereo. Filled my tank up and added some Grape scent, now when I drive by it smells like grape soda!

You are right... I seem to find one little thing after another. But, life is always full of work, which should lead to fun, right? So, next I have fun... more work to come... my horn ring is next. I am waiting for it like an expectant "father". I just need to start pacing LOL

The emblem says Custom... I did fall out at the gas station once! Kinda embarrassing .Well it smells like Grape Soda... I know most guys would not think to have the Gas smell Good. Our vans are very fumy
and many times people smell gas. So now they smell Grape flavored gas. Still gas but, very nice scent. I just ordered Watermelon scent... it does help when you warm up in a garage or in my case a tent. They have BubbleGum, Strawberry etc. etc. I am a smellin' good driving by!

So LZ, where do you get this smellumgood scent stuff for gas tanks? Never ever heard of that. I'm not sure climbing into the early without the gas smell would be right. Also the side picture of you van is so good it looks like a perfectly built model.

It is suppose to hook into your reverse lights for activation. No wire between... transmitters. I do not have reverse lights, so I am hooking them to my back up light switch.

Thanks very much! I paid extra to ensure no wavy sides!! The dash on yours has it all!
For the scent, Summit racing or Jegs has it... also on Ebay. Every fragrance you could imagine. It does not effect the gas or gum up the lines, it is just scent. Not too strong just subtle. Rootbeer sounds good for you guys! Manly but sweet. I like new stuff! Seemed like nobody had used it except racer's? Not sure...
I tried Grape, just ordered Watermelon for the summer shows.
People would put their heads inside the van at shows and say "ewww it smells like gas",,, so now they can say "ewww it smells like Grape!" LOL

Does the sent additive change the smell of the gas before it is burned ?
Or after?

My guess is one before thermostat one after

Wrong. Long story short, sorta. In 1988, while building the 292-TH350 drivetrain in order to tow a travel trailer thru the desert southwest, I knew I would need to keep close tabs on the engine performance and cooling. So I ordered 9 Autometer gages, Speedo, Tach, Oil pressure, Oil temp, Trans temp, Water temp, Voltmeter, Gas gage (VDO) and Vacuum gage. Can't remember why, but I ended up with two water temp gages. Around 1993 we bought an '88 454 Suburban to tow bigger trailers so I took the Trans temp and Oil temp gages out of the early and put them in the Burb. When we started using the early to tow again in 2015, I put the second water temp gage in and hooked it to the transmission sender, so one of those is trans temp. By then the '88 Suburban was long gone with my trans & oil temp gages.

Interesting idea panelmanrd

LedZeppvan
05-01-2019, 09:45 PM
Yeah, my stereo system uses a bit of power. So when I'm parked I worried about too much time with the stereo playing.
I added the Yellow Top as I have heard it will outlast most others by 2x. I am putting in a switch panel with a double volt meter to monitor each battery. It also has a couple USB plug ins and an extra lighter plug. That way I am aware of what my charge levels are in each. I may want more additions when out camping so an extra battery is great.

Never gave the trans temp a thought

When you are towing a long travel trailer, trans temp is the most important gage. Tranny is the weak point in the drivetrain when towing if it gets too hot.

That is a nice box set up although it seems to sit kinda low? it looks like it sits lower than the exhaust pipe running next to it.
I made a battery holder using angle iron that works well, no hole in the floor, I can only access it from underneath. Luckily a battery doesn't need a lot of attention once installed.

Being wire less makes this addition attractive to me
My reverse light switch has been missing since I found my Van.
A well placed placed off on switch would still work good for me.
With no windows in the "Beast" an extra view out the back of the van would be helpful.

The wife's daily driver fish tank has a reverse camera.
With little to no blind spots in this ride it is not really necessary.
Just another thing to add to my up grade list...

Yes the wireless factor was why I bought it. I have put rear lights on a switch anyway... so it was simple to splice into the rear wires for the power to the camera and transmitter. The front monitor and receiver were added to the switch for power and ground. Each needs that, then the transmitter and receiver can communicate. I also have a set of solid back doors which I will be breaking out this summer. I need the back up view now with the sofa in the back.

It is really feeling good to listen to my stereo and not worry about starting the engine. The digital display is nice to see what the different charge levels are... so far it has been very very good. Mine is geared toward runnning audio equipment, but the setup is the same for anyone needing to run accessories while the van is off. The battery isolator is a key component to the system. It keeps one battery from draining the other, or overcharging each other while running.
