    Smooth Dash

Took the plunge and got out the hot wrench. Cut out speaker grill and radio holes and ash tray, welded in 2 seperate sheets of 18 guage sheet metal.

LF, thinking about doing the the tunnel treatment to the front floorboard and adding a console for the floor shifter. There should be plenty of room for the stereo, ashtray, and guages. also going to re-route the defrost hoses andfloor heat outlet. Am I screwing up making these changes to a perfectly unmolested van?

Greg, the dash looks sweet, the dash in my 65 was hacked up terrible when I got it...here was my fix.... http://groups.msn.com/vintagechevyva...to&PhotoID=297
The neat thing about doing a van is you build it to your needs or taste.....
The dash in my 69 is in good shape so I am not going to chang it much. I do need to decide on a color soon.So the color works from the inside out.......Wookee

Greg i did the same about 7 months ago. Looks sweet with the spyder dash and the glove box there was almost nuthin left when i welded in the new section. As for the stereo I am building a custom box and am going to put it on the front of the doghouse. to the right of the e-brake and in between the doghouse straps wont look orig but easily accesable and not in the dash. Lookin good keep posting those pics Shorty
