After a long wait I'm finally bringing it home today!

It's a 69 108 panel. HAD a 6cyl and 3speed, both gone. This is the 500cid rear engine project!

I'll post some pics likely tomorrow night.

Using a 70's front wheel drive Eldorado unit, they use a 500cid v-8 and 350 turbo trans. They also produce 500+ ftlbs of torque! Very expensive to work on, but everything is available to hop them us as what is available for a 350 sbc.

It's going to be a challenge, but I'm going to take my time and get it right.

I heard those were t400's. I've been thinking about something simalair? involving a Corv8 kit. Figgered i'd build a subframe on the floor and then bolt the whole thing in.Still checking out ways to align the r/wheels after/during instillation. As you move along, drop me a line, maybe i can assist and learn too.

Wow, wonder whatever happened to that thing?
Looks like a potential wheelie machine!

I will not get to this one till next year.

In the meantime, I'll be needing a windshield and a dash pad... plenty of time to dream.

500 cid rear engine auto, the paint scheme will follow the Corgi "Jet Delivery Service" van.

Anybody else have faux running lights on the side of their van? Looking at my last picture, you can see that the light could be added, but was stock as just a reflector. All four of mine are like that.
Just wondering,

The Eldorado/Toronado tranny is referred to as turbo 425. It has turbo 400 internal parts, but the sprags are installed backwards because all the internal parts rotate the other way exept for the pump which is still mounted in the usual manner behind the torque converter.

I know several guys on the web that put those in their Corvairs. The only problems are the width and all that weight on the rear wheels. The driveshafts end up being very short.

Here are some links:
