Sorry its not another early......

I have been looking for the right van to build a "Mule"/Daily driver.
I picked up a decent 87 chevy a little while back.It was cheap enough it ran and drove great.I was making a run to the Dump when I ran across this one.

I want to be able to pull a car trailer. For more than one reason. This van already has all of the things I need, installed from the factory,350 engine, fuel injection,A/C,700r4 trans,3/4 ton suspension,The body needs less work all the way around.

I have been wanting to do some updates to the "Beast".Paint, disk brakes, maybe some more HP,a rear swap,.......
Knowing how slow I work I really do not want to tear into the "Beast" and be van less for the summer season.

This van having the "right" running gear will also let me spend more time on the "Beast"........

Wookee, what's with the red visor van? Doesn't it run? I am also fond of the 3rd gen vans. Should fill the bill for you, great find.

Greg, the red visor van runs and drives nice.
It is a 305/automatic stripped shorty.I Have a nice HO 350/long tail TH350 here I can drop in it.It has some typical chevy rust issues and some inside out dents that needs taken care of.
Its a decent driver. It just lacks the power to pull a trailer with an Early on it.

I have gotten a few complaments on it driving it around here........

It would have been perfect if the LWB van had the 40/60 door set up.

I will take the running gear over the "right" doors right now......

The neat thing about vanning is it can still be a low buck hobbie.I needed a van to haul stuff other than ass.Yes I have used the "Beast" to haul stuff in.
4x8 sheets of sheet rock come to mind during a house project.....

A van out hauls and looks better than a puke up any day.......

and being enclosed keeps your materials dry and locked (if you still have working locks!) - i had close to 30 sheets of sheetrock in my 69 (90 ) once after katrina - it was riding a bit low - oo3

Funny all the door locks work in the 89.
I can't say the same for my 87 or my 69.

Wookee,

What size wheels and tires are you running on the red visor van? And do you know where a guy can pick up a set of fender flares and front spoiler for these third generation vans?

Stewman,

Thanks for the heads up on the flares. I'm kind of looking for a new set with the front spoiler integrated into the front flares. I am interested in the no window back doors though. Can you get me the number of the guy to contact? How far away from you is this van? Could you take a look at it again to see if the doors are still in good shape? Thanks again, let me know.
