View Full Version : Tank sender snafu

Ever wonder what happens when you connect 12V positive to the sender wire of the fuel gauge? (no, the tank doesn't explode)
Wherever the little brush happens to be contacting the rheostat, it melts the tiny wires in that spot, trashing the sender.
This was the dilemma confronting me as I was putting the finishing touches on TacoVan's 3/8" pickup tube upgrade.
Fortunately, I was able to bridge the bad spot with solder, saving the sender, and saving me from having to find another one.
But I still needed a rubber gasket. Again, fortunately, I was able to pick one up at the local Chevy dealer for a measly $1.44 (part no. 3825206)
