I have had the privilege to serve my country in the Navy for the last 20 years. I've done many things, seen many different countries & traveled thousands of miles in that time. Next Friday 27 April 2007 my career will come to an end & I will retire. I will have a formal retirement ceremony at Marine Corp Base Camp Pendleton where I've worked at Assault Craft Unit 5 for the last 4 years. ACU-5 is where the Navy operates their hovercraft unit. I had the privilege to meet Jesse James here in 2003. I (hopefully) will be going back to work as a power plant operator for the federal government after a well deserved months vacation. I look forward to spending more time with family (and my van of course).
At 44 years old my federal pension & health benefits will be pretty cool too. Wish me luck!

Sounds like it was an exciting career, in a high tech field, with top notch bennies, kind of windy, maybe, but what the heck... doesn't get much better than that. Shoot, you're still a youngster, too! Hope your next gig is only part time.

I really don't have a problem meeting at C.P. - it's just that for the last 4 years me & the van have been making a 110 mile round trip to work everyday and I swore I'd never do it again - but if that's where we gotta meet then 1 more time ain't gonna kill me... http://www.vcvc.org/ubb/wink.gif

Just plz wait till I get the van back ok? may be a week or 2...

Well folks - it's time to go back to work. As you know I recently retired from the Navy. In next couple of weeks I will be beginning a 2nd career under military contract with the Raytheon Corporation, in a sea-going position outside the USA. Although I'm not totally thrilled to be leaving home again - the pay is such that I simply cannot pass up this opportunity.

The van will go in the garage for however long I am gone, and I will finish the painting and other projects at a later date.
I will check in here periodically - whenever I can. I'm sure I'll have internet access at some point.

You all have been GREAT. The ingenuity that is present here is simply AMAZING.
Take care -
