Is the Rochester Carburator able to replace the old Carter? Please help!

Thanks,

Tony

Yes Tony, Any carb that will bolt on and the linkage lines up will work. Go for it. The Rochester is a bigger carb.

Well,, I tried to put the rochester on today, One problem though; the throttle linkage will not hook up because the throle hook up is facing towards the engine rather than away. Any solutions? Or do I have to return it?

Thanks,

Tony

It sounds like you do not have the rochester for the chevy six. The linkage on the carb should be on the back of the carb and rotate counter clockwise. If you need I can photograph mine and send you the photo.
I called that phone number in Pasadena and there is no answer. How long ago did you get the carb.
Let me know
David.

The Linkage rotates clockwise. I ordered it from expressautoparts.com . They substituted it for the carter. It was for the '67 not the '66 which I have. The only way I can get parts is if I get parts for '67 and up. Send pictures if you can to tonye_us@yahoo.com. I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Tony;
Go to this site and you can see seven photos of my carb. Note the signs of fuel seepage.
I hope that this will help. http://y42.photos.yahoo.com/bc/ahighdiver/lst?.dir=/rochester+1bbl&.view=t

Does anyone want to buy a Rochester carburator? Or does any one want to trade for a complete Carter setup that does or preferably doesn't leak fuel? Can anyone help me? I'm sure it will fit a newer van (67-70). I will make and even trade for anyone interested or I will sell it. I don't want to bother returning it and having to go through the hassle of wrapping it and shipping it. It's a waste of time.

Thanks

Tony

What is the status of the carburetor? Does it leak? The Rochester might fit newer (67-70) vans. E-mail me your address and I will try to send it to you.

Thanks,

Tony

Well, I can't trade or sell my carb to you guys. The carb isn't from a chevy six. It is for a 60-63 chevy V-8. Also, my request for a return came through. Sorry.
