How can you tell the differance between the 68 - 70 vans? Is there some body or insignia change so you can tell just buy looking at them? Or do you have to go by the vin #?
Thanks,

the Bohemian

The 70's side markers light up, the 68/69's are just reflectors.
I also have a picture from the 69 sales brochure that shows the battery mounted on the hump in front of the doghouse, although I've never seen it mounted there on an actual van.

I USE THE SMOOTH ONES TOO. I HOOKED MINE UP TO THE BRAKE/TURN SIGNAL SWITCH CIRCUIT. IT'S NICE TO KNOW THAT PEOPLE ALONG THE SIDES OF THE VAN KNOW I'M TURNING.
A BIG PROBLEM I HAD INSTALLING POWER WINDOWS;DOOR LOCKS&SIDE MARKER WIRNG WAS GETTING THE WIRING FROM THE DOOR TO THE BODY.
WHAT I CAME UP WITH IS 1/2" VINYL LOOM WITH A RUBBER 90 FOR A PCV. IT WORKS FINE BUT IT'S NOT VERY DISCRETE.PICTURE OF DOOR (http://home1.gte.net/res0h4ff/a_HQ3.jpg) I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE FACTORY SET-UP ON A 70.

I've been following this post on front turn signal lenses. I jumped through hoops trying to find the correct lenses for my van. I finally found them at a couple different places for about ten bucks each. One place that had them is Chicago Specialty Auto Parts. Here is their address www.chgoautopts.com (http://www.chgoautopts.com) You have to enter the part number of each lens, yes they are different from left to right. I'll pull out my lens boxes and post the part numbers tomorrow. I am pretty excited to install these NOS lens covers after my van gets painted. I think it will make the biggest difference. Vannman
