Hey, if it works, it works. You could experiment too.

Well, you'd probably have to drop the tank to do this, but I recommend drilling some holes in the floor and welding nuts to the underside of the floor pan. Then, use some clips to clamp the seat across the tubing frame and you can put the bolts down thru from the top. I recommend this so you can easily unbolt the seat from the inside if you want to remove it to haul lumber or something. Otherwise, you usually need 2 people to unbolt the thing.

I put hood pins on the seat frame, drilled holes thru the floor, and put the retaining clips on from underneath. This makes for fast, no tools removal and nothing sticking out of the floor when the seat is out. http://www.vcvc.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

I put in a rear bench from a 95 mini-van and fabbed up some brackets so the seat clips in and out like modern vans. When the seat is out the brackets stick up, but I added a sub floor and carpet with thick underlay and there is only half an inch or so of the bracket showing..... adds a pretty neat custom touch.

If you want pics send me an e-mail.

I too did the quick-remove seat deal. I chiseled the seat mounts out of a ford aerostar and welded them into the floor of my van. They work well, but it was a huge hassle.
