My 65 is stuck in reverse, the column shifter is jammed. havent found any broken peaces yet. any ideas before I start taking things apart to find out why.

Try this, If the shifter is stuck in reverse start with the levers on the tranny. otherwise follow these directions.
Start by putting the shifter in neutral then move the levers on the transmission to the neutral position
(the center of the throw) you can feel it click from first to neutral and then to reverse. And second to third on the other linkage. When they are all in the neutral position it's fixed.

When the bushings in the linkage wear out, shifting becomes sloppy and will sometimes hang up in gear. When this happens, reach under the grille, grab the appropriate shifer rod (Rev/1st on top, 2nd/3rd on bottom) and move it by hand. This will free up your linkage. There are two bushings on each rod; one at the front and one at the rear. Replace them and the linkage won't hang up.
