Ben Goldberg's 1967 Chevy 3/4-ton 108"

"Greetings, what a great site! My name is Ben Goldberg. Due to some financial debts incurred I've been pondering selling my '67 108 that I have owned since 1987 when the prospective buyer, a friend, showed me your site yesterday. I have since decided to keep "scoob". My wife & I have spent many a nights & miles, including our honeymoon, driving scoob around the country over the last 14 years.
I bought it as the 3rd owner with a stock 283 V8, 3 on the tree. One morning in sub zero temperatures back in 1989, the motor went up in flames while trying to start it. Fortunately the rest of the van was spared. Months later I found an old expired ad for a wrecked (rollover) '66 with a new motor. The price was quite high I thought & since the ad had expired I thought I could get a "deal". Looking at this van from the front it looked somewhat like a parallelogram due to the rollover. I proceeded to talk to the original owner who inferred that he would not budge on the price. " I built that motor, (a 292 straight 6 with custom headers), with my own two hands" boasted this old grease monkey in coveralls. After blowing off the cobwebs & scooping out the mud inside, the thing fired right over like it had been touched with a magic wand. After a wonderful conversation I believed everything this ole dog said & paid his price. Even though it still drove, I had to steer it while being towed over 60 miles with no windshield in a Colorado winter.
After fabricating a custom motor mount & electric fuel pump I have since driven it to this day with that old man's grease & sweat under the doghouse. The compression is perfect & it doesn't burn a drop of oil. It is a * ton with 6 bolt rims. The interior is all carpeted & insulated and boasts custom door panels, bed with storage, buckets, visor shelf, & my shortened 7ball shifter. I also changed out the gearing in the rear end so it loafs at 70mph. I would like to officially say kudos to whoever created this site as it greatly influenced my decision to keep my scoob as a member of the family. I would love to come aboard with the VCVC. I'll just have to eat soup for a while. Feel free to pass this on amongst fellow van geeks and I look forward to your reply".
Sincerely, Ben Goldberg
