Well the holidays and bad weather are here ,When the sun shines the van will get a cruise even if it's cold.Heres a pic of her in the garage I have been doing a ton of things to my van (after it came out of the bodyshop in feb) I am trying as allways to do as much as possible myself and feel I have got alot done this year.I have a winter list of things to do on the van but I thought I would just post them as I go.Rear chrome bumper (just redone ) off ebay will be here monday, and I had the new rubbers and all that stuff put put on the vent windows out of parts van I have so soon I will take the door insides apart and install along with a good drivers window regulator
Havent seen alot lately on the photo forum so maybe a few pics from all would be cool Thanks all.

the van looks great. i love the color and the way it "sits" you have done a real nice job. what are your plans for the interior? i would suspect that might be on your radar screen for a winter project. keep them photo's coming. john

sounds like a full plate bill, and it's the little things like that list which don't get done unless you just plain get to them. you have plenty of time, and i'm looking forward to seeing your progress. john

Vent windows are done and ready to install in the van.New rubberseal, channel run division seal.I used a small wire wheel on the air tool and stripped the metal sanded lightly and used a quality trim spray. Then on the lower section painted with zero rust.
    Bill

Only took about 29 minutes a window to tape them up carefully.

Glad to hear, but you've got to stop fixating on my rear! Did you notice the clouds parted for a bit today? I couldn't make it home to break out the van, but it was soooo tempting.

Thanks guys I had this vision of how I wanted the van and slow but sure I will get there but the best part was getting it to driver status It's great to just get in and go for a ride whenever you feel like it.

just one more thing to do. Did you have to replace all the rivets? If so, how easy was it and what tools did you use?

Ed Thank You, The windows were out of my 70 parts van and they were in fabulous shape I took them to an old shop in town and the owner did not want to dissasemble them because they were in such good shape so they installed the new rubber/division seal and new wiskers were the glass slides I stripped the metal and painted .I hadn't done this for years (last one was a 67 elcamino) It was easy just a little tight in places and I made a real mess on the first side with the grease . My mistakes were not getting the window track right on the pass side (I will fix in the am tommorow) also not double checking the adjustment on the drivers door latch relay they are very sensitive no big deal I will fix that also . overall very easy. Well kind of interesting my paychecks haven't been the greatest since the big market crash 15 months ago so I have kinda held back and done lots of things to the van myself but no big ticket items (like paint) Last 30 days at work has been crazy and don't know how long that will last but time has been a little short so I picked up the phone today and set the apppointment for tuesday with a shop (friend) to do the pinion bearing in the rear end ,check out the axel bearings and while it's there probably have him do the dual resevoir brake master cylinder conversion.I Pride myself on doing as much as possible myself but my next couple months are hopefully so busy that I can start making some dough again. And the wife wants to take a week long road trip in june in the van maybe head south with no real game plan so it's time to finish the little odds and ends. Well I did it the van is at the shop to get a dual master cylinder conversion, rear end/axel bearings checked.Kind of different for me because since it came home from the body shop a year ago I have done all the work on her myself.Funny part is the shop it's at are long time friends and they do a bunch of custom work and if let loose they could go crazy on the van. Well the vans at the shop with the rear end out and on the work bench I am glad I took it to these long time friends, slight whine in the rear was some simple thing because it was adressed so soon it was no big deal everything else looked like new (they were surprised) unbelievable, new brakes on the rear and on to the dual master. Rear end is all back together ,rear brakes complete rebuild done.I knew once I got it to the shop this would happen front brakes are needing some attention (wheel cyl just starting to leak)so by the time the cost of the new master cyl + front brakes etc are added up looks like it will be the disk brake conversion will be a little sooner than expected. And probably a new gas pedal/cable set up. Bill

Update disk brakes not done yet but have got more little things done door latch relay, turn signal assembley, and while the door panels were off put some Q pads (sound deadening stuff)inside the the driver and pass doors and wow what a difference that makes now the doors sound solid when you shut them and the driver area is quieter when driving.Overall have been driving my van every chance I get and have enjoyed the hell out of it! M1D, I know this sounds stupid but I haven't a clue.I have been buried at work since the first of the year and on this brake project I just told my friends at the shop(they do tons of custom work) to get all the parts and call me when they can do it.They took a lot of measurements before they ordered stuff.I will find out what the set up is.
