    Cool

This years New Years resolution was to do more work to my Early.
I have spent allot of time working on a few other projects the last couple of seasons.
Like most of us here my plate has been full of "House Projects"(there is a light at the end of this tunnel and it's not a train)."Family Projects",(I spend my days with my 2yr old grandauhgter,Pay sucks but she really bright ray of sunshine to my life).A "Daily Driver Project"(I am pretty sure.I have found the right 3rd gen van that will be a long distance "Mule").
Jugglng the time and funds to get all of them done can be overwhelming at times.
I figure I got until it's time to take a dirt nap to get every thing done.I don't plan on laying down for a good while......

Here is a slide show of the "Beast",and the long stange trip we have been on so far.....

Here is a picture of one of the interior "Up grades" that I have been working on.....

I hope to get the old girl into the garage soon and start bocking on the body.the black primer was a guide coat over the 2K primer that is still on the van.I am hoping to have color on this old girl by the "Nationals"........

    Cool

    Thanks for the complaments guys.
I have owned this van longer than any other Van that I have owned in the past.
It has went through long preiods of time where it has just sat and nothing got done to it.She sat and waited for me to get back to her.
I even tried to sell it once......
It is the most "complete" Early I have ever owned.
When I found it every thing was there and in place.
It had it's share of set backs.
Like a rebuilt L6 that I could not get to run right......(never did get that figured out).
Once I did get her right mechanically she turned out to be a very dependable driver.
Just like that girl friend you did NOT take home to meet Mom.The harder I run her the more she likes it.
When I started this build A wanted a mild Hot Rod that would perform well from light to light. It also had to be able to do at least 3 to 4 hour hiway runs.
    I achieved this goal.
    A crate 350 engine with a low end torque cam.TH350 trans with a "plate" shift kit,and a 3:08 rear.
Now comes the fun part.Getting the exterior and interior to look really good.
This will more than likely take a few more seasons. That's OK with me.......

    Cool

I was told by my dad when I got made because and other early vanner did a dash mod simalar to one I had done.
    Imitation is the ultimate complement.
I scored a pretty sweet grill from Bills66

got it out to the garage today and got some of it stripped.I want to do make a over lay panel that I can have chromed.
This is going to be a little more challenging that I first had expected.
It need to dry up here so I can crawl under the beast and get a real good look at the back section of the grill and behind the head lights then I will know where i exactly need to cut this grill and what I can remove from the Beast to pull this off.
The other problem is the chrome plating it's self.
A am pretty sure this is not going to be a cheap mod.......

that looks like a good and challenging project wook. i love the look of chrome to break up the paint, especially on something with the real estate our vans have.
try tri-city plating when you're ready if you don't already have a place in mind. i will know more about their work next week, but i am told by other members that they are really good. i sent my plating out a little over a week ago and expect to see it soon. i will let you know if you wish.
