I found the "OS" suffix code....but it's not on a G10. since your engine has the 230/250 casting code i'd go with that....BUT as per the chevelle site ( http://www.oldride.com/library/1966_chevrolet_nova.html) the "OS" stands for:

    OS (t) 6-194 120 177 Powerglide 1 BC

since nova parts interchange with g10...could it have been a part that was replaced? I saw your pic of it on the other thread.

Thanks Amie. This is the suffix code where the Distributor base is. I was just hoping to confirm that if it was the original engine. Its just nice to know...especially its true birthday lol. Thanks for looking it up.

    Cool

Remember that casting code on the side of the block is a generic casting code. The true ID numbers are the ones stamped onto the ledge where the distributor is located at. Most of the time these stamped numbers are covered in a thick layer of grease and can be hard to find. These numbers/letters will also tell you it's year, CU, and what the engine came in. The 6 that was originally in my 69 came out of a Chevelle . I used an older "Motors" manual at the local library.Unfortunately those have been carried off from the library and not replaced..........Wookee
