    Bench Seats Question

    Hi All,

I am considering putting original looking bench seats in my van, though I know the display vans did not come with them. I'm just starting my search and the only pics I can find are of modern seats in the back. Can someone please tell me if the sport vans had two armrests and ashtrays in the arms? Are there any pics on VCVC that you would help me find? I'm considering using VW bench seats as they look close enough. What do you think? Are Chevy bench seats really that hard to find or am I just not looking in the right place?

    Thanks
    Chris

New member JAX has just bought one of the best preserved Sportvans I've ever seen. Look through his thread for pics of original seats.

original seats do not come up that often. lots of times they were removed early in the vans lives and used in waiting rooms at junkyards and garages around the country. if you do find a set you will have done well.

Man! Looks like I just missed a nice pair on vintagevans http://vintage-vans.forumotion.com/t...ht=BENCH+SEATS Those look like they could be Chevy seats and for just $200! There is an old country gas station that has a seat out front for customers so I'm gonna have to play American Picker!

I heard once that first gen Blazer seats are the same...couldn't hurt to expand your search a little to include those, and also maybe check 60-72 Suburban seats as well, maybe something there will work?

I have a first gen Blazer seat in my garage... it's the right look and width, but sits rather low. You would have to make about 8" tall risers for it.

What if you built some mounting brackets off the rear wheelwells for it? Do you think it would fit back there?

I'd just make a tube frame for it to bolt to.
