Hey lvjjj,
Yeah, Pasadena is along the 210 corridor SE of the Sunland Tujunga area.
Speaking of unreasonable, we have what are called "no burn" days here in Sonoma Co. and elsewhere in the bay area. An outright ban. No fires in fireplaces. It doesn't matter if you spent thousands converting your fireplace to a pellet stove. Most of these occur in the winter when you WANT to get cozy. The rest of the year they discourage you to use your BBQ, drive or partake in other activities that might produce pollution during "spare the air" days. Not enforced.......yet.
These are draconian laws that benefit a very small segment of society. But there is more.........even as the nutty laws makers legalized dope, they banned smoking almost everywhere. There are a host of crazy laws regarding that.
The Salton was supposed to be this great getaway but it looks like things didn't work out too well eh? That said the area is worth preserving to the best of our abilities. I think you have to rise above sea level to appreciate the vastness of the sea, the beauty of the area found up arroyos and walks through the desert.
My wife and I have been traveling to the area since the early 80's and have seen some big changes, none good in my opinion. water is becoming a problem yet they continue to build out the area and ruin it with ugly wind farms.
California is an interesting place politically and environmentally. On one hand you have places where passing draconian environmental laws serve no one and achieves little and on the other hand you have places that need protection or regulation that are being ruined.
