    VCVC 20th Anniversary Rally

2017 will mark the 20th Anniversary of our club. 20 years! So, we're going to celebrate it. Plans are already underway for a full scale rally; one of the ages. There is only one condition. YOU HAVE TO BE THERE. If you've never been to a van event before, this is your wake up call.

We are trying to secure a location that is as central as possible, with grounds for a typical truck-in style event and a hotel and other options on site. We encourage you to finish that van and get it ready by 2017. This will not be a typical "van only" type event. If your early won't make it; if you don't have one yet; if you don't have one anymore; if you don't want to drive your early long distances; that's no problem, but you still need to be there. Drive something else. Take a plane. Take a bus. Take a train. Just be there!

If you've never been to a van event before, this will be the perfect opportunity to see what it's all about. You have three years and some change to make plans, schedule vacations, save pennies, and get the van ready; so get to it!

Once a location has been secured, I'll post it here. Any and all details to follow will be posted here. This is the big one. Get ready!

I'll be there for sure. this thread should be stuck to the top of the page like rollcall for everyone to see. and to not get lost in the threads. I guess that's called a sticky . i'll get this internet lingo down sooner or later.

    30 months away!

We're just at 2-1/2 years out from the VCVC 20th Anniversary Rally. How is your van coming along?

We'll posting exact dates and a location soon, so everyone has time to claim vacation time and make sure the van is ready.

I shall be wherever it is.

I'm quite proud of my 68, it may not be very pretty, but it sure is reliable. I just pulled it in the garage Sunday, it started right up even though it has been sitting since the beginning of October.

with 2 1/2 years, no one cane say they didn't have enough time to plan or save!!!! get er done or drive it as it is, no excuses! any more thoughts on a location and type of facility? I know there was talk of something 'different' than a fairground. something with lodging and camping? have you considered something like skyline drive, Virginia? rent the entire campground, cabins are available, lodging, restaurants and stores. plus 100 miles of road to cruse in our earlies. maybe find something like that in a location that is fair to all. and then there is this option toohttp://www.whitethornlodge.org/

    Cool The Rules

    Rules:
White Thorn Lodge is a family nudist facility, not a clothing optional resort.
Do not wear clothing in the pool area, hot tub or sauna.
Innapropriate behavior will not be tolerated and may result in expulsion from the grounds, without refund of fees.
    The following are prohibited:
Intimate contact, suggestive or overt sexual behavior.
Intoxication or use of illegal substances.
Causing or attempting to cause injury or damage to another or to property.
    Criminal conduct.
Discharging of firearms; fireworks other than those sponsored by the Board at special events.
Visitors and guests are personally liable for any injury, accident or loss.
No photography of any kind is permitted (except by the official camp photographer which will be announced).
Glass bottle and containers pose a serious safety problem and may not be used in any of the common areas.
Speed limit for everyone is 10 mph.
Smoking is not permitted inside any club common buildings. Please use ashtrays and butt cans.
White Thorn Lodge does not sell or serve alcoholic beverages: members and guests may provide their own.
Children are always welcome at WTL. Children under legal age are the responsibility of their parent or gaurdian and must be under their direct supervision at all times.
Babies must wear plastic pants or pool pants in the swimming pool; disposable diapers are not permitted.
Club 18 is an adult facility and is for exclusive use by adults. A pool table, television, and library are available.
Please take a soap shower before you use the pool and hot tub.
Children under 5 are not allowed in the hot tub. Children 5-15 are allowed only with parents. Twenty minutes is the recommended time limit. Maximum number of persons is eight. Food and glass containers are prohibited.
    Nudist Etiquette:
Conduct appropriate for a family setting is expected and required at all times.
Carry a towel to sit upon when you're nude; don't sit on the bare seats of picnic tables, lounge chairs, etc.
Honor the privacy of other nudists; don't ask anyone about their occupation, name, address or phone number.
    Use first names only.
Pet Policy for Guests and Visitors:
All pets must be registered at the gate upon check-in.
Proof of immunizations must be furnished.
Guests camping with pets are required to camp in the designated area in the flats.
Except when walking the pet, the pet is to be confined to your campsite.
When not on your campsite, pets must be leashed.
Pets are not permitted in any buildings, including the rental units, in the common areas, or the loop.
Pets are not permitted on member lots without permission of the lot holder.
You may walk your pet(s) on the roads and trails.
Always clean up after your pet(s).
Please be considerate of fellow campers; barking and/or disruptive pets will not be tolerated.
Failure to comply to these stipulations may result in being asked to leave WTL without a refund.
Absolutely no pets will be permitted during Volleyball Superbowl.

I certainly welcome help in finding the right place.

Looking for a location that has grounds to hold a normal truck-in style event, WITH adequate onsite lodging for those who have not come to a truck-in because they don't want to camp or sleep in the van. We need someplace within reasonable travel of an airport for those not driving. In essence, a truck-in with accommodations for anyone who's never gone to one for travel or lodging reasons. Lodging needs to be within walking distance.

nudist resort probably not so great with the our aging group. but do think something like skyline drive would be perfect. after deciding what part of the country, find a campground with lodging and scenic roads for us to cruise. not sure what fairgrounds cost but think we should consider other options too (nudist resort wasn't a serious suggestion) also, when? after nats may leave some members too broke to come.

No matter what the date is it's going to revolve some where around the Nats. I just don't see a way around that, but at least we have a good amount of time to get all the funds together. (fingers crossed)

    Cool

it would be neat to be able to visit a small town some where centrally located in the lower 48.
Kinda like a Sturgus type of event A small town might be able to fit our needs..
A town with a nice main street with in walking distance from the hotel..A camp ground close to town it's self..Good restaurants along with an exibition center would be a bonus.
It would also mean that club officers might have to make a town council meeting
if we get a little farther off center of the lower 48.A ski lodge type of venue might not be a bad idea.Summer is the off season for this type of venue. The down side to a venue like this could be the price.

As ffar as the Nationals go we know this event happens in July It would be nice to do a date for our event that does not directly conflict with the Nationals.
How ever if this can't be avoided I will be at our event........
Its a "van thing". A life style you have to live to understand!!!!

Currently figuring mid-June, but that could change slightly, depending on the location.
