^^^^this is the kinda shit that SHOULD be in this registry.

people come across parts Vans....take a photo of the VIN and post it here.

parts Van, refurb anything....enables a good tally.

I added mine to the registry. How many are in there now? Would it be a good idea to add a link over at vanning.com and vintage vans?

I was thinking we were going to be able to view the registry as it progressed. Speaking for myself, I kind of lost interest when I realized it was a behind the scenes thing. (unless it's here somewhere and I haven't figured out how to navigate to it).

I think it would draw a lot more attention and participation if the members could see the current database, build sequence, photos of the vans, etc...just my .02

Thanks...didn't mean to repeat myself but I had posted it in an older thread and then realized this is was the active thread to discuss it in.

Would be cool if there was a little thumbnail photo of each van or some clickable links in the spreadhseet that would open up to more info/pics of each van. that way the main page wouldn't get too cluttered.

haha...I'm up to about ten cents now! I know I'm pushing my luck but this is the kind of project I think could be really interesting.

I pulled these numbers from the "for sale" threads.

keep it simple, make it complex and it becomes too Hard to deal with.

    simple facts.

VIN# being the MOST important for a Registry. then some additional SIMPLE facts. color, condition, where it's at......

Sellers on Ebay usually list VIN numbers.

    Craigslist sellers don't.

A good way to contribute to this Registry is Any time a Vintage Chevy/GMC van comes up for sale in YOUR neighborhood.....

GO GET THE FUCKING VIN NUMBER!!!!

and kindly bring it back here.

I must have read it wrong. Based on the OP and linked registry form, I thought the whole concept was to try and gather some backround or historical info (where possible) for each van to sort of "personalize" the list. Something the future generations of VCV enthusiasts could look through and get a visual of what each van was like. If this kind of information isn't preserved somewhere by somebody, eventually it will be lost to time.

Raw data by itself is fine if the idea here is just to chart the vin numbers...but it's like reading a phone book.

    Cool

Most of the collectable cars out there have some type of a registry.
IF the production numbers for Early Chevy Vans where as low as the numbers that are currently floating around. 300.000 + or - total, for the run of these vans produced from 64 -70.It would be nice to get and accurate count of the survivors left.
This project like the any projects on these vans evolve as it goes along.
As we as a club collect numbers, information.Hopefully we can expand this collected information out a bit more.
One good thing we have going is we have a lot of long time owners in out ranks. One or two members here are owners of there vans from day one.
Right now Smiley and AutomaticAmie are going the needed ground work to pull pull this project off.
We also need more members here to submit there information .
I do know there are a good bit of unused tools along with band with on this site right know.
How this project evolves will really depend on the amount of information that early Chevy Van Owners submit to the registry.

I've been wondering if a registry like this existed! Good to see that efforts have been placed to gather them up!

I've added two that are long gone, and I'll dig up another one's VIN that I killed myself. =(

Also, will add my current one, that's alive and relatively well. =)

Over the years, our goal is to provide the largest picture possible on our vans' production life.

The form will be a little lengthy, and we will greatly appreciate as much info and accuracy as possible. This project has been on deck as long as the club has been in existence. Time to do it right. Amie will post the form as soon as it's ready. We will transfer the registry to a format viewable to registered users of our site. The viewable registry will be updated often and we also hope to be able to track as much previous owner lineage as possible.

Gather your info and stretch your memory. It's time to map out the family.
