Lightbulb The Official Chevy/GMC G-Series Registry

Finally. At long last, we will launch the form to begin our journey to register as many vans as we can. Not only do we want to catalog as many active vans as possible, but we're looking to register wrecked, deceased, and parted vans as well. Over the years, our goal is to provide the largest picture possible on our vans' production life.

The form will be a little lengthy, and we will greatly appreciate as much info and accuracy as possible. This project has been on deck as long as the club has been in existence. Time to do it right. Amie will post the form as soon as it's ready. We will transfer the registry to a format viewable to registered users of our site. The viewable registry will be updated often and we also hope to be able to track as much previous owner lineage as possible.

Gather your info and stretch your memory. It's time to map out the family.

    It's official!

Here's a link to the registry form. You can also access it from the home page of the site. Please list known previous owners in the notes section of the form.

what a cool idea. i can trace mine back through vlad marco and roger moyles, and that is it. i also think there was one owner between roger and vlad. roger would have to list prior lineage from there. it really would be cool to trace a van back to the delivering dealer.

Will the register automatically sort from earliest to latest based on the vin..? that would be a cool feature.

Who will be the first to register??!

The registry will likely be sorted by VIN. I'm really hoping to see at least one pair of consecutive sequence numbers. That would be awesome to me.

At last check Smiley reported only 17 vans entered into the Registry (as of a week or so ago). I'd say we have probably 10x that amount of members who post here daily. Please enter your van into the registry so we can finally get a true idea of what's left of the original fleet!!! It won't cost you anything, you won't get spammed because of it, and your info won't be given out to third parties. Come on, everybody!! Please, sign 'em in!!!!
    Thanks!!!

Smiley & I were discussing this last night and wanted yall to know that we're not gonna post any personal info unless we get permission....I'm looking to set up an "email" link on each entry so that if permission has been given, the owner can be contacted. I'll tweak the form so that it reflects this.
Those that have already participated, I'll contact yall about this.
    Thanks!

    missing VIN info

I'm not sure what info is available to previous owners. 2 of the 3 previous vans I had I did not have a VIN for but might have plate numbers (photos). I know you can pay to do searches but not sure what info is available. If I run across the VIN numbers, I will pass them along as I'm sure it's also a way not to reduplicate vans in the system. In my case I know almost for dead certain one van is in van heaven while the others are most certainly on the road. While the odds are slim these vans will surface here, if I had the VINS and they do surface here, wouldn't that be a kick? I'm sure many here have 'I wonder what ever happen to' stories to share.

So since I dug all this stuff out I have a question...is the name and address on the Protect-O-Plate the name of the original owner??

Likely, yes. I don't know if the plate would have been re-done for a new owner if the van changed hands before the warranty ran out, although that scenario appears unlikely. You could always try to look the person up and ask them (if they are still with us).

that surprises me amie. with the many dozens of members whom post here and the hundreds of lurkers and non-posters, i would expecy more than that. where are you early chevy van owners?
    i think it's a couple of reasons.....
some people aren't sure what we are going to to with this info or how the registry will work....
some (like me) may not want to walk down stairs and get the info to input into the registry form.....
OR when they think about doing it, they're at work or can't put their hands on the info.
.....when someone says "we" they really mean "me".
