I can make an inner panel out of luan and just screw the oak trim piece right to it.
I just like the switches mounted in the factory holes a little better.
I have other interior work I want to get done before I mess with covering the door panels.
I still can't walk around the local pick and pull yards yet.
So there is a method to my madness ...

    Cool

A while back I got a repair order for a cracked windshield.whick lead to the van going to my friends body shop.which turned into a repaint job.
Yesterday I was finally able to get her repair order taken care of.(tags are suspended until this was taken care of).
Monday I will be able to get my new stickers and be legal again.
She has been basically yard art.
While I did take her out with the out dated stickers for the inspection to be done.I was able to drive her enough to find out Harford Tire did a great job rebalancing my new tires mounted on the 8 & 10 inch Crager SS's.Pep Boys who I bought the tires from could not get the balance job correct.
I went there because I wanted a 295-50-15 tire mounted on the 10s.These tires fill a 10 inch rim better than a 275-60-15 does. I have ran this size tire on 10's in the past. When I picked these Cragers up they had the same sizes of tires all ready mounted on them that where in OK shape. While the tire where dry rotted the tires where balanced perfect.I knew The wheels ran true.Pep Boys where the only ones locally that carried a 295-50-15 tire...

I still have a problem with her idling correctly at stop lights.Tuesday I found a local shop who can take her in and run a scan.
I have a code reader I invested in.How ever,I still can't get her to idle correctly at stop lights. It's also an intermittent issue. Some time it will idle some times it wont.Hopefully next week the local shop can run the codes and be able to diagnose the idle issue.
I was desperate enough to drive the van 16 hours to a club member here that knows his stuff about these throttle body set ups.
I do have another late model here that I debrained. If next weeks visit to a paid wrench does not work out.A call to Summit Racing will be in order.
The TBI worked great until she dropped a cylinder and I had to park it.IF it did not run correctly before I did the engine swap I would have went back to a carburated set up.Similar to what I am running one the"Beast" and out Z28.
    At least she looks nice......

    Cool

It has been a while since I have posted any thing about Big Red.
The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter. No trains in sight...LOL
I have reworked pretty much all of the electricals that worked. How ever they just looked bad.
I also scored a nice set of power mirrors.I do have to hook them up and test them before I install them.
I am not sure if this will happen for this driving season.
Just because I know that i will have to pull the dash cover again I will make a couple of changes that will help to make pulling this part a little easier.
While I have the power window harness working good.I would love to find a power window harness that is factory uncut.
Considering this harness has been in two of my vans so far.The harness owes me nothing.
Having a harness that separates Via the factory plugs would be nice...
It kinda sucks paying attention to details..LOL

    Cool

On a good note she sat and idled for close to an hour.
Engine temps remain nice and cool.
She is not turn key cold start yet. This throttle body set up should start like that. IF every thing is right
How ever she does fire right up, after she has warmed up a bit...

    Cool

Big Red has had an electrical issue The I want to fix.
Her factory harness that rune through the top rail has been compromised by a sheet metal screw or a burr left behind by the screw.
I rigged it and made the system work.
The repair is quite a few years old now.
she has no interior to make the new harness replacement an big issue.
I will fabricate a complete harness & route it a different way.
I will also wire her for a trailer plug while I am wearing my automotive electrician's hat..

    Cool

Just an up date for those who are paying attention.
I hooked up the JVC head unit.
I can't get it to play.It played great in my daughters Camaro.
The car was hit hard on the left side.
Not sure If that has any thing to do with the head unit not playing now.
I am pretty good at hooking up car stereos.
I can't get this one to play at all.
It even swallowed a CD and will not spit it back out.
The stereo is the last thing I need to get hooked up and she can start her job as "Daily Driver".
I am not doing any thing real fancy. Just a simple AM / FM CD player and four speakers.
Some times the seemingly simple jobs just take more time to complete than harder looking jobs do.
The good thing is my To Do list is getting shorter on this Van.....

    Cool

    Thanks Kustomizer....
It has been a labor of love.
I still have one more project that will need assistance from an out side shop.
That I will have to through money at to get working correctly.
The van is a factory A/C van.The heat works great however the A/C has never blown cold air.
All new parts are in place with the needed fluids that I could install for them to work with out the charge.
As soon as I get her dash back in place I will make an appointment at the A/C shop and have her charged up.
She is a good driver..She has also gotten a couple of complements. From non vanners at different places we have went to.
