    The Perfect Patina.

Seen this Sportvan online somewhere. I'm not crazy about the slammed lowrider frame on the ground thing or those wheels, but damn this patina looks amazing. Anyone know what those factory paint chip numbers are? Do we have a Patina thread on here? I noticed you can see the floor through the front wheel wells...

That van has popped up on eBay from time to time, my guess is the builder got to that stage and couldn't figure out how to make the steering work.

There isn't currently a specific patina thread, but I guess you could start one in the photo forum so everyone would know where to look.

The paint is the common 1st gen sportvan custom/deluxe Aqua/teal and white two-tone combo. This color scheme appeared on many '65 and '66 sportvan custom and sportvan deluxe models.

The teal-ish green, gold-ish color, and white seems to be the most common 1st gen colors, blue seems to top the list on 2nd gen, as far as factory colors go.

The thing that gets me scratching my head is WHY is it manly rusting only where the white paint is ??? you would think with the teal under it and the white on top it would be the teal to rust First ??

could be in a dry climate with no road salt, green over the white and white not so good? or, with patina being the rage, could of wet sanded that area almost to the metal and let it age quickly for the desired look. maybe the next 'rage' will be engines that smoke excessively and knock? no, wait, diesel guys already on that around here.

I think it's actually the primer under the white and not rust, maybe from buffing took more white off than teal?
