1st Gen Upper Shift Rod Mount Wanted

I am in need of a BROKEN 1st gen upper shift rod mount. This is the piece that is retained by three screws to the upper part of the steering shaft tube. This part is a weak spot and frequently breaks. Once broken, the top part of the shifter lever rod flops around making shifting a big problem. It would help us to have one so that we can repop a stronger one. This is a longer term project but needed IMHO. Unfortunately, small production runs of parts like this are pricey and it's always a choice between cost per unit and total cost but it's better to have some option than none at all. We gotta keep these ole gals on the road, ya?

Hopefully someone kept the broken part once they fixed theirs but if not I am going to strip the GMC before I scrap it and can send you a good one if that will help.

    Thanks

I sent you my contact info via PM but hold onto that good one. I'm only needing busted ones. We want to see where they break and possibly improve the part. It's possible that we may just repop them as is. These may be breaking because over time they just wear out. Maybe other linkage down low is worn out and putting more stress on this piece. Regardless, we could use a repop so we're on it.

    More Broken Ones Wanted

For anyone who might have a broken unit, please consider sending, selling or trading me for it. I will be working to repair and reinforce these broken units. This is because, as imagined, the cost to repop these is too high. I will continue to look for alternatives but at this point, it looks like making new units is out of the question. I am hoping to repair some of these and then have them on hand for those that have broken units. These would then, hopefully be sold on an exchange basis in the future. Just something to keep in mind my fellow VCVanners if you have one of these lying about or happen across one. It'll be just one more piece of the puzzle to keep these VCVans on the road for years to come.

These continue to be a needed item. Several VCVs have cracked ones and are in need of a spare. We have tried to repop this item but the cost was way too high ($100 for 20). In the meantime, please don't force the shift lever. If you have a spare, to sell, I'm buying at $50. each.
