Just got the Teac back from the electronics place and it sounds great. I bought a source JL Audio source selector a few months back as well. This weekend, I'm going to design and start getting the materials to make the cabinet to house the reel to reel, inverter, selector, etc.

Glad to hear the deck is back in action. If its not too late, think about a way to shock mount the Teac. It doesn't have to be super sophisticated. The unit was originally designed and built (of course) to sit in your living room....not traveling down the road in a vehicle. I work (doing audio) in TV trucks too, and we have to deal with this scenario. A consumer reel-to-reel, by nature, is one of the more sensitive pieces of audio gear.

Don't forget the probable need for a line amplifier.. To drive the Teac outputs (all the way) to the JL selector.

I'll have to think about an elegant way to switch this on & off.....otherwise it'll piss your battery/aux batt if you forget about it.

                Still on Stereo

It's taken a little while to learn some things and gather some parts, but I'm still moving on this.

Got my 4 Infinity Reference 6"x9"s wired in their boxes, the new JL Audio 10" subs wired into their boxes, and a few other things ready. Waiting on the AudioControl 4 channel amp, and a few connectors. All the head unit power will be used to run the 4 small overhead speakers and the dash speaker. The 4 channel will run the 6"x9"s and the existing Infinity 1600a will power the subs.

I'm getting a little hi frequency hiss from the reel to reel, so I may toy with an inline hi-pass filter to see if it clears it up without taking awat from the upper music fewquencies.

All the door panels are fabricated and drilled for the upholstery. I hope to have the material in hand by November to start upholstering the panels.

This list is still very long.

I also got a sample of curly maple that I’ll be making the cabin floor from, to test the wood dyes. I think I’ve found the answer to the floor question.

Side and rear door interior trick

Smiley if you look at a sports van interior side door they used a extension piece to make the door panels meet with out a large gap i used an aluminum angle to make this work .made relief cuts to conform to the doors curve. Makes for a cleaner look when the doors are closed. If some one can post a picture of a sports van interior you will see what i mean

I do have that piece, and did consider using it. I may still, but it's not on the list right now.

Full stereo system is running, with the reel to reel. Sounds glorious in there. I’ve never had full sound in this van before!

SUPER! Take a vid on your phone and post (if you can/feel like it). I realize the vid won't sound great.... but it would be cool anyway to see it in action.
