Started staining the floor planks this week. First, sand each of the 20 boards with 120 grit, then 150 grit, then 180 grit. Next, wipe them all down with warm water to raise the grain. Let them dry and sand them with 220 grit.
First pass is black wood dye in a water solution. Two passes, allowing for dry time in between.
Once that is dry, sand it back to reveal the figuring in the maple.
Next is blue wood dye in isopropyl alcohol solution. Two passes, allowing for dry time in between.
Once all the planks are done, I'll fir them all together temporarily to clear coat them.

wondering why you're going to have a wood floor? won't that transmit road noise into the interior?
great van though, you haven't set the bar, you are the bar

Wood is actually decent sound deadner..
Some of use like to hear our engines sing...
Its a "van thing". A life style you have to live to understand!!!!
I get the feeling it won't be making long road trips..... at least not driven.
This van is going to a level a bit beyond driver status. I kind of wish I hadn't turned my Dodge into a driver, I can't really afford to bring it back the right way now.
Makes me jealous of guys like Tom Chronister and Frank Costa that can (and do) drive all out show vans cross country.
