    Giving up my huge garage

Yep, giving up the 1600 square foot garage for one that is only 864 square feet...... for now.

I put a bid in on this house, it's 3 bedrooms and two full baths on 2 1/2 acres..... the property is only 80' wide, but it is 1/4 mile deep! I might build my own personal drag strip, lol.

The cement driveway is rare in the area it's in, most are gravel. House needs no work, unless we want to change carpeting color or something.

There's enough land cleared to put a pole barn up behind the garage, so I can regain the space later on that I'm losing.

Well, it's not looking good. The bank I pre-qualified with does not do loans on manufactured homes. Got a quote from a different lender, costs are much higher putting this almost $10,000 out of reach.

Realtor put me in touch with a different lender. Hopefully this goes through, they did a pre-qualify with no issues.

    Here we go again (2008)

Over here in Kali, it's all about cash buyers scooping up homes as fast as they can. Many areas around Sacramento, where I like, are going for $25k over the asking price. Tract homes around here have gone up 35% in 4 years. Families that are prequalified with mortgage loans are not able to compete with buyers able to just write a check for the entire amount, and there's plenty of them. That way sellers don't have to wait for appraisals, and extensive escrow proceedings. They just cash the check and sign over the house. Tough stuff for families trying to get a home of their own. If you are in the San Francisco area, the homes cost around a million dollars. It's absolutely outrageous. Believe it or not, based on the cost of living in SF, you are considered low income by the government if you make less than $100k. Seems to me that the 2008 financial collapse is coming around again, only this time worse. Hang on!

Mark, the entire west coast is getting really out of control. The wife and I are planning to move some place affordable (probably in the south somewhere) when I get back from Afghanistan.
