    Deluxe West Coast Mirrors

    Here are the west coast mirrors that came on the two 65 Deluxes I've had. Both have the four-bolt bottom brackets, as was said, to make room for the Deluxe trim piece. That's the original paint on the turquoise van, and there are no lower three lower holes. Maybe Deluxe doors were made special without drilling the three holes. They had additional holes drilled on this inside for mounting the Deluxe trim piece and the vinyl door panel.

    The support brace is inside the door though, where the three bolts would have attached. After seeing that, I fabricated a similar steel plate with nuts welded to it to strengthen that part of the door where that lower bracket attaches.

    And, as seen on the Sportvan brochure photo, even if you didn't get the west coast mirror option, they had a special round mirror that mounted above the trim.
