    3 spd trans ID

A local wrecking yard has a 250-6 with the integral intake with a 3 spd trans bolted on the back. Is there an ID
location on the gear box that I can check for possibly using as a back up for my 65? The tail section does have
a different mounting bracket. I hope I can buy it and the HEI dist. for a reasonable price.
    Thanks in advance.

    Cool

That intake started in like 77 or so.
Sorry can't help with any ID numbers....
It defiantly should be a fully synchronized transmission.
By the early 70s all of the transmissions had the lower style cross member mount set up
Its a "van thing". A life style you have to live to understand!!!!

Thanks Wookie, I am going to get some good measurements of my box and see if the tail section can be swapped out.

If they are both saginaw 3 speeds, the tailshaft should swap out. It is possible to swap the 3 speed saginaw tailshaft housing onto a 4 speed saginaw also.

saginaw traNSmissions had different gear ratios, which are identified by the number of rings/lines/grooves cut into the splines of the input shaft.

    3spd trans

Just curious, I have not shifted a 4 spd column trans and am wondering how the sequence goes. Does a 3spd
    shifter work with it?

    3spd trans

Also, the guy wants $200 for the trans so I think I will just drop mine out next winter and see why it
slips out of second on negative acceleration. Probably an easy fix.
