    1969 g20 108 panel newbie...

Hello all, just purchased a southern 69 g20 v8,4-speed(column) shift, posi rear...have to do the lost title thing..hoping for the best there...unstuck the motor..brakes pumped up with fluid..most systems working..but poured anti freeze in water pump top bolt and it leaked out...hope its not a cracked block as its been sitting 20+ years...need a few parts..windshield,chevy van 108 emblem(have a chevy van 90 to sell)..key cylinder, light switch(unless there is a wa\y to clean and retry..no headlights...) just saying hi out there..should be a fun rebuild!

    Welcome!

Can you see where the coolant is leaking out? There is a 'weep hole' on the water pump that will leak fluid when the seal goes bad in the pump.

The coolant leak was just an open radiator petcock! Got as far as a quick start this weekend..now will replace bad starter..go thru 4bbl carb..water and fuel pump..then plugs, points and run her to see where we are! Was nice to see the start after 25 years...will post pics soon...can anyone tell me if the sidemarkers were just reflectors....no power to them...also I feel that a 1969 108 panel g20 with a v8,4 speed and a posi with the protecto plate is a rare bird???

Very cool van. In '69 it is likely the engine was possibly a 350? The column 4 speed was a rare option too. I have a 4 speed column shift that I scavanged out of a 68. I love it. I have it paired up to some 2.56 rear gears in my '64 wikivan. The trans is an all iron Borg Warner t10 with an ultra wide ratio. With my 2.56 gears, its effectively like having a 3.73 3 speed + an overdrive.

Sidemarkers are just reflectors, but you can swap them out for lights sourced from later year vans and wire them for power. That would be a cool upgrade
