          The answer is...

According to the parts guy, the tool has been made. He wants it paid for first too.
Its "A one time non recurring tooling charge." Rolling eyes here...expletive deleted on the price.
So Im on the payment plan with him. He hasnt tried the tool as yet. They want me there to sample the tool usage.
My schedule has me out of the LA area every week until July. I had some specifics that also need to be shown to them.

This is all happening because I know him and his father-in-law. They have a extremely busy shop. 30+ employees.
My little project is like a body shop's approach to doing one of our vans. Its there for fill-in work when things are slower.
The thing is...Its not ever slower for either of us.

Im all in here...If anyone has another approach to getting these things made sooner. Go for it.
I just again have to tell you all, please be patient.

These are not going to be junk. It will be worth the wait.
          Mike

patiently waiting...thanks for the update. My checking my vans for bottom opening windows...it doesn't appear to be an easy latch mounting situation on the drivers side...the doors may be doable but the drivers side will be a bit of an issue to mount the latch. JMTC Ray

I was wondering if anyone would bring this up eventually.
The shop that was trying to make these FAILED miserably.
                    Money spent, not well...

Coincidentally so I just heard from another source. Again, these will not be cheap junk.
One guy quoted me over $100 each before I add the hinge to them.

These new guys hopefully will be a bit more reasonable.

My job keeps me away from home and it is difficult getting to it
but this is something that should be coming...eventually.

drill out the screws, remove glass,,,drill out the spot welds,,,,,,TIG weld the hinge and folding lock to the top and bottom

Im doing this to the rear doors on my van,,,,Im taking the 4 side pop outs,,,leaving the front in place,,,taking the rear ones changing up the hard ware to make them bottom pop outs,,,,,replaceing the glass with optic armor /lexan....

Its posible I "might" sell all 4 of them,,,,havent got to that part of the build yet
Dont tell me I cant do it

Sounds like Dave is all over it.

Use caution! What looked good on the surface...
