I知 happy to say that this years Nats will be my first time attending. Things are finally lining up after 14yrs of being on VCVC, with actually having a van and getting time out of work that I can fully commit to it. Oh and it痴 3.5hrs away from me. I did have to convince my wife to spend our 20th wedding anniversary that week sleeping in our van, but I know she値l have fun.

Thinking about it, but it's a 20 hour trek for me each way. It's on my calendar, but will be a game time decision.

I'll be there only 1-hr 15-min for me. Great grounds, been there the last 2 years, and may years ago there where van runs at these same grounds.

Also if anyone cares, Recreational Weed is legal in Massachusetts!

I went to the 2014 nats and had a great time, this one is so close to home I cant miss it. I plan on coming up Friday morning so if possible some one save me a spot. I'll probably have a friend tenting it and an ez up for some shade. Does anyone know if there is power available?

    Thanks

    Cool

I have missed the last few National Van Events.
I do have this one penciled into my calendar.
I did the I95 North trip a couple of times.
I am looking into a little more indirect route up to this event.
Route 81 north then head east after I cross over into New York state.
This route will eliminate all of the tolls on I95 the Jersey Turnpike, the NY Tunnel.
This will also be the first National event I will attend with out the "Beast".
I will be driving my late model,89 GMC "Big Red"...
looking forwards to seeing all of our members both new & old at this Van Event.......

    Camper van question

Ok so I would love to meet you all, and this is so close. However some medical setbacks will prevent me from finishing my van in time. Some have said it's ok to rent a van and come anyway. I have looked into a CAMPER van (24' Sprinter with camper interior) Before I drop $1,500 on a week rental is this an acceptable option?

Sounds crazy, however there is a fine line on what is able to get through the gates.Van camper wise.
While the box truck style camper with a Van front end Camper rear section has not been able to attend.(old rules)
A camper van with every thing with in the original Vans body lines are OK..

    van?

Sprinter is really not my taste in a van and she is a little long I know but it's a local rental. and if I can't bring my 65 gmc why not go in comfort. Click image for larger version.

    rental

    Hi Buddy
    Hope all is well.
Suggest you go to the Nats web site and there is contact info. Call or email to get a definite determination. Be sure to get name of responder and hardcopy of the decision in case it is a problem at the gate.
If not acceptable maybe a u-haul van and a small camping trailer.

    Trip to NATS 2019

I am interested in going to NATS 2019. This will be my first large event since restoration. Interested in maybe, as a group from Maine New Hampshire, driving down together.

Meet us at Bonny Eagle again this year (May 19th), and let痴 make a plan with Mike and Melissa. My van should be done by then and then I値l have 2 months to work out kinks and prep it for the Nats trip.

    NATS 47

    Thanks.
That sounds great, meeting at Bonney Eagle on May 19th.
Not knowing how it works and the number of people that may attend, will that be too late to make any needed reservations, etc?

    Sorry
    Let me start over.
Meeting at Bonney Eagle on May 19th sounds great. This being my first major meet, will we need to make reservations before May?

The way Van Events are held is,1st come 1st served,as far as parking places are concerned.
This one is all most right in Primer Donah's back yard...
Correct me if I am wrong Mike.
I believe you have made all most every Nationals since the 34 th In Va,

    Cool

Ok I am putting this out there.
My place can be a pit stop for any Early Owners heading north to the Nationals.
I don't have a departure time for my self yet.
The latest I would want to leave would be Thursday in the AM.
Pretty sure if your van is acting stupid on this trip.
Stop by and we will wrench some drive ability into her here,if she needs it
Or let her set here and we will fix her when we get back.

I know I am 22 hours from NOLA driving straight through at 65 to 75 miles an hour
Only stopping for P brakes and fuel.
About 10 to 12 hours to the event driving straight through.
It did take me two days to get home the last time we went up that way to a van event.

    ..........Wookee

    The offer is open...

    Looking forward to it

Went last year for the first time, it was a great time! Bringing my van this year as the event is only 1.5 hrs away from me. My wife and I are registered for the bridges and distillery tour on Tuesday, so will be there early. How do I find out more about camping with and helping out with the club?

Amie and I will be there on Monday to stake out the VCVC camp. Let us know when you know what day you'll be arriving. We'll save you a spot.

Let me know what info you need.

Thanks Smiley. Most likely be there for Tuesday morning early enough to claim a spot before the bridges/spirits tour heads out at 11. The info I was looking for was what to be prepared for or bring to help out, for example for the pub crawl, or if maybe a pot luck dinner one of the nights at the campsite.... that kind of stuff
