    Very cool van!

I have the rare 4 speed in my '64 (came from a '68). I installed a 2.56 rear gear behind it, and it made freeway driving so much better. Not sure what rear gears you have, but you might consider a freeway gear ratio swap. The 4 speed in your van (if original) is a cast iron borg warner T-10 with ultra wide ratio gearing. The first gear is 3.44:1, so it will work nicely with a 2.73 or 2.56 rear. My van drives essentially like a 3 speed with 3.73 gears but + an overdrive. I call it the "poor man's overdrive".

That's nice, and the four speed is rare. I'm not fond of the patina craze, but at least you can drive with old crappy paint without everyone asking when you're going to paint it.

    Re: 4 speed...

    I have a late '67 Sportvan Custom 108 with the same G20 package, V8 and 4-Speed.

It has either 4:10 or 4:11 gears, so first gear is stupid.

I like the idea of switching those gears out.

The 4 speed cable (including reverse) was difficult to find.

I hope you are enjoying your new ride.

Nice van! I agree the patina thing is over done, especially when it's not even a patina they're talking about, its just crappy faded second or third paint job. Or worse, just a bunch of rust. But these days, a rust free original paint car is rare and that alone usually makes it cool.

    Keep the pics coming...
