I ordered a custom leather wheel cover from Wheelskins. Nice quality leather... getting the wheel ready for my horn ring!

Thanks, it is all coming together. I have worked tirelessly, and with one goal...finishing and enjoying my van! Making it my own.
I am getting excited to get from where I began 4 years, now in a spot where I don't need something... may want of coarse!
But feel pretty good, I started 4 years ago. I had to learn a lot and get many helping hands along the journey. But I made it a van I am proud to drive.

You should be proud. Thatís a great looking van.
Any specifics (size) on that leather cover from Wheelskins? I love the leather wheel cover on my Bug and didnít know there might be an option for the Sportvan.

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. They do have a couple of options. Since my interior is mostly black, I kept to that, but they do have several designs.
They just have you take two measurements across side to side and around the widest part you grab. My wheel is a 1st gen deluxe wheel it is 17" x 2.5" I was surprised how hard it was to weave a simple stitch? It is difficult because you cannot see that back hole once you get going... I suggest a light and a mirror to ensure you get into the correct opening. Very easy to skip one hole and have to go back and unweave... yep did it.
But, the quality is very nice and I think it is worth the trouble.

Your wheel is looking good. Itís easier to wrap a wheel if itís off the column. I do them all the time.

    Pics

Before you install the horn ring. Could you lay out the parts and take/post pics. Since you have the typical horn and also the ring, it would be nice to see all the different parts side by side.

I will do that for sure. Sometime in the next week I should get my horn ring back... this last week has been a killer waiting.
I need to straighten or center the steering wheel when I install the horn ring. Soon I will have that beautiful ring back. Cannot wait!

That makes sense... I had never tried before. Next time I will remove the wheel! Thanks

    Cool

My 1st Gen no side door was all most the same color when I 1st found it...
She will draw a lot of attention out on the road.
    Have fun.
The wheel & tire combo looks great...
