68 ON Barret Jackson aution show

Just saw a '68 shorty that was part of SEMA in 2012 sell for $13,500 on the Barrett-Jackson aution. Looked like brushed aluminum some kind of round tank sunk into front bumper area and military stripes over the rear wheels and all hinges were painted black

That was the "Ebay build" early that Hot Rod magazine did with Mackey's hot rod shop in California. It was once owned by a vanner from Ohio named Kris Kessler, who used to race it and do long smokey burnouts at truck-ins with it. It was blue then, and called "Psycho Delirious" It's actually a 108 that Mackey's welded up the side doors.

Wow, the price has really dropped on that one. I think it originally sold for over $20k. Unfortunate modifications done during the build pretty much made it unusable on the street, no mirrors, red/green turn signal lenses for the 'aircraft theme', and I'm pretty sure the small tank is actually the fuel tank, so about a 20 mile range driving.

    Cool

Here are two more pictures of the same van.
    The van came from Ohio.
It originally had a bad ass, strong running small block in it....
Hot Rod Magazine.Or should I say the producer/writers.Bought it, and paid to have the fighter them paint job put on it..
I met the former owner of this van at the 35th "Nationals"

They also smoothed out the side doors, punched a bunch of louvers into the rear doors and did a tail light change...
