    Cargo Door Rod Clip

Does anyone have a source for these door rod clips? The hold the side and rear cargo door rods to the latch. They are typically removed when servicing the latch or removing the door rods and sometimes they break. Any help appreciated.

I seem to remember somebody making new ones at one time, can't remember if it was this site or vintage vans site.
I posted it on there site, after doing a search with no luck, also did search on Epay & Clarks Corvair. nothing yet.

Cargo Door Rod Clip & Lower rod

FYI: I chased down the P/N history on the rod part numbers. Interesting by 1969 GM went to the same part number for the lower rod on all doors - So I would "assume" any lower rod should be good...

I have two doors I recently got for my 1966. My truck has no rods in the side doors. The New used doors have only upper rods. Don't know their year. So I need one each L & R door bottom rods. I will chk the package today for some pics. but have no rods handy to test fit.

    Question Clips

Rich I think you are talking about the plate and the anti rattling clips different than the inside rod clips

Yes, the anti rattle clips stop the door "rattle" while driving. The rod clips are essential to having working rods in the doors.
I was able to buy a set of a 8 clips, the amount needed for all side/rear doors on ebay a couple years back. I was glad to find them! The longer clips don't look the same in the earlier post? Maybe they will work though... if they do great!

Ebay m6 rack mount cage nuts
My thought would be bend or grind off the tabs that hold the nuts in remove the nut . Will the rod clip end fit where the nut was??? These are used to mount equipment in data cabinets like chadsworth or ritel
If the m6 size is too small the next size up if there is a next size up??

108 this is me thinking out side the box just maybe
Also what does early ford and dodge use ????
They have rods like chevy what clips do they use?? Any chance they are the same!!

Corvair??? What do they use are there rods in the side doors ???
I no longer work where we had these cage nuts

I appreciate the lead. I've seen nothing closer that this. It's a great lead, thank you! I've searched catalogs for clips but found nothing that would work. It's possible the cage nut may be useful with a little work.

    108
I think you see my idea
    1 Do not remove nut
2 grind a half circle in the, will call the back tabs
3 place in a vise heat with fire wrench
4 bend tabs over to the center
5 now grind out the tabs that hold the nuts in
Hope fully you find a cage size that fits the rod end
If close grind some metal off the rod end

All you can do is try 108

Jackie is there a part number on the bag of clips you got
    3842312 or 3864543 gm number ???

    Wink Warped Mind?

Why would anyone think we have a warped mind? This is just part of a years long effort to fabricate an obscure door rod clip used for holding cargo doors in place on 50 year old vans that are not widely popular or even known of with 98% of the public. It'll end up helping a handful of people, many of whom I've not met. We'd spend countless hours and an untold amount of money working on something that we could never get anywhere near breaking even on and then, would at best, earn an on-line thank you from a fellow internet forum club member. How is that considered a warped min... wait a minute. Nevermind.

I saw those but didn't pull the trigger because we need something more readily available. Those are so rare and expensive that if they did work, it would solve 1 person's problem but do no good for everyone else.
