Fuel Tank from Vans Auto to big

I ordered and received the new fuel tank from Vans Auto. It is a lot bigger than the old tank. How do I get this thing to fit or did they send me the wrong thing.

the only reproduction tank is the 24 gallon that is correct for '68-70. '64-67 vans used an original 13 gallon tank. To make the larger second gen size tank fit in a first gen, you have to drill out the spot welds, move the crossmember forward and reweld it. You will also need the longer second gen fuel tank straps.

Your other option is to return the 24 gallon tank and have your original tank cleaned and repaired by a radiator shop

    Alt Fuel tank

The source was one of the guys on the van's Facebook (Smileys alter ego).

A short while back I did ask him for details & pic's
    - said it was done a while ago. Here is his posting:

Those of you that are struggling with finding a replacement fuel tank for your 1st Gen G10. I used this kit from classic Chevy and even used the new sending unit in my van. Now I have a 20 gal tank. I put in a resistor on the ground side of the sending unit to work with the stock fuel gage in the van. Works great and was a cheap solution to get my van on the road. Sorry I didn't have pics of the fuel tank being installed. Didn't know that was going to be the big struggle. But it was very easy to install with very few mods to make it work."

If you have face book search on "fuel tank"
That is a about all I know - I had saved his comments for reference.
