    1st Gen Shocks

Finally got around to putting on new shocks this weekend. I don't suppose the ones I took off could be original, but they certainly are very worn and old. When I pulled off the rear ones, they don't even expand or contract much at all, can't imagine they were doing much.

Not as dramatic an improvement in ride as I was hoping for, but the van sure takes dips better now, no more of that flying up in the air feeling. I used the stock replacement Monroes from RockAuto.

Next time (in 30-40 years) try Monroe Gas Magnums. Used those since the '80's for trailer towing, work great.

    Suspension

Thank-you - I had to chisel the road build up on it - it laughed at the 3500 psi power washer

    1st Gen Front end

Those are the original leaf's - I took them a part, cleaned the heck out of them, re-assembled with new liners.
Yes I replace ALL the bushings myself, original shackles were re-used.

    Cool

My 1st gen had a set of them factory stilll bolted in place. In 79..
I replaced all four with a brand new set of Monroe Magnums.
Drove the Van the rest of the time I owned it with those shock in place.
Noticeable difference in the ride after the new shocks where installed..
