    Tire size

I just got some 15x7 Baja wheels. I want to put some nice tires on them but I don't want to mess with the front wheel well. I don't need really wide tires and I want to run the same size on all 4 corners. Can anyone suggest a tire size that won't rub on the front wheel well. Thanks. Tnicean

225 is typically the widest up front without massaging the wheel well opening. I like 215's (up front) for easier turning in situations like parallel parking.

          Tire sizes today

          Now a days
215 is the width of the tire
70 is the side wall height profile
          15 rim
I would jack up the van under the front axle
Remove wheel and tire install new rim
Then measure between the front lowest point of wheel well and the new rim where the tire seats
This will give you the tire height you need
          75 ,70,65,60,55,50, tire profile/height

Back in the day tire width was 70, 60, 50

To tall of a tire will rub

Well, I tried the 225 70r 15 and it did not clear the front wheel when turning. I am going to try the 225 60 r 15. It is about 2 inches less in diameter. Tnicean

                  Springs!!!

                  New re arced springs ?
                  Old sagged out springs ?
                  One person driver ?
Three people sitting up front (dog house seat )?
To wide, to tall tire or both ?
                  Rim size 13,14,15,16, ect
All these could make a difference

Not to worry. My van sits nicely, but as you say it could be a number of things. The place where I ordered the tires took the 70rs back and ordered the 225 60r 15s and I am pretty sure they will fit nicely. Thanks for your help.

A 70-15 is tricky up front, especially if you've upgraded to disc brakes. We had to "relieve" my wheel well's forward edge a little (after paint) to accomodate the wheels and tires.

Finally got the 225 60r 15s mounted on Brownie. They fit nicely. I would have rather had the 70s but I would have been taking a chance on a tire rub.
