Post West Coast 1st Gen Parts

California 1st Gen parts available starting Friday morning (2/21/2020). Entire van to be parted out. Reply to this post. This is a 1st gen passenger van that was poorly converted to a panel. Has previous hit on passenger side, not sure how bad. As of this posting, the items spoken for are: front clip, roof, front wheel lips, left side cargo door pillar, differential. Pictures and more information scheduled to be posted tomorrow morning once I arrive on-site. Parts transportation to the NATS can be arranged. I am currently scheduled to be on-site tomorrow morning with tools and Sawzall. I have not yet seen this van so these details about the condition of the van are subject to change and updating. If you are looking for sheet metal, be ready to forward pics of your van with blue tape or photoshop marks of where you would have me cut. First come, first serve. Stay tuned if interested.

    Update 2:30 pm

I知 deep into it. It used to be a window van until the PO installed sheet metal on the outside to make it a panel van. Irretrievable registration from out of state.
Vanitti: no popouts at all only solid glass. He痴 also keeping the doors.
Savage: Yes, and another one yeah.
Ryleeji: Original bumpers replaced with steel U Beam front and back.

For some reason, the owner was not enthusiastic about the idea of me continuing to use the Super Sawzall, cutting disc and impact gun after dark. Something about the wife, kids and the neighbors, go figure! So I had to leave it like this until today. I値l unload the Ranger and trailer, drive back there today, hopefully arriving before noon.
    Ray68108: PM sent.
#1Rascal: Front Valance is being kept with the front clip
GFleduc: Front channel area was cut when wheel lips removed. I知 not sure how high up. I will check and
    get back to you.

All others not mentioned: My apologies if I was not responding yesterday. The Sawzall was singing too loudly for me to hear the phone. After I wrapped up for the night, it got too late to call some of you back. I知 continuing to respond to the emails and other contacts in the order received. For those that have asked for 2nd and 3rd position on parts, please be patient. 1st position buyers have about a day to send funds before vanner next in line is moved up. I知 also working to get access to another van that is a candidate for the Super Sawzall. This may happen in a couple of weeks. All outstanding requests for parts and sheet metal will be given priority on the next van if they cannot be filled with this van. Transportation to the NATS may be possible for larger cut pieces but the WedgieVan is filling up fast.
BTW, I have noticed far fewer opportunities for parts vans over the years. Seems like they are just not showing up in the boneyards, at least they are far fewer. The ones that do come up are in worse shape. Also the need to cut wide on sheet metal means one wide cut piece degrades or destroys the piece next to it. There is just no time to properly separate the spot welds on site, which would be the ideal way.
This job was complicated by its location. I get concerned when doing this kind of work in a residential neighborhood. All it would take is one call to the local code police and the poor Super Sawzall would be in jail and I壇 be dealing with who knows what kind of trouble. Thank you for your support.

Besides the typical busted knuckles and scrapes, the only significant casualty was the trusty Super Sawzall. I'll be taking it to the Milwaukee Clinic but it may have cut it's last VCV. And now a moment of silence. ;>).

I Alomst Forgot to Mention Zoltan!

Meeting other VCVanners is always awesome. On this trip I met Zoltan. Yes, that's his name. He's an impressive guy to say the least. He's also one of the most friendly and helpful VCVan deconstructors I have ever had the privilege to meet.
