    Thumbs down because coronavirus

    Seriously.. this is just dumb.

So apparently I can't go to Walmart after 9pm now. Because coronavirus.

WinCo is perpetually sold out of my favorite ice cream: Moose Tracks. I have to settle for Carmel Caribou, which is a poor substitute.

I bought another VAN.. Don't get too excited, it's a '05 Honda minivan for the wife to haul around the kiddos in. Its really comfortable.

AAA DMV is closed, CA DMV is closed. No appointments available. Cannot transfer title online. Have 30 days to transfer title, or you get fined.

Bank is closed. Good thing I just bought a van because you can't get large amounts of $ anymore.

So here's a couple good things about coronavirus:

Gas is cheap.. in CA that still means $3/gallon, but its better than $4.

Less traffic. Much less idiots in my way now.

I sold my old house just before the SHTF. Good thing I did.

However, since Uhaul frowns on getting their trucks dirty, I bought a box truck. The next day everything closes. Still trying to get insurance so I can make an appointment to get plates, so I can move what's left in my old garage to storage.

Got my 'papers' today at work that will allow me to get through the future Checkpoint Charlie to get to work. Apparently brass is an 'essential business'

    Hold On

IMHO, the next couple of weeks will show how critical this CV19 is. The real danger is not the virus but the "herd" mentality that can result from fear. I advise members to fact check statements regarding this situation. Many "stories" can be circulated that are misleading, false and help nobody. IMO, this situation is extremely serious. Even if it is not, perhaps an ample amount of caution and personal preventive steps are in order. Maybe the biggest issue of my day starts out being my concern about a scratch on my new truck but I'll forget all about that if any of my family or friends is threatened or becomes ill. Best to play it safe and heed the warnings.

It's a good time NOT to be in New York. They are getting hit real hard. It's not surprising with the population density. Even more restrictive measures are being taken in the SF bay area today.

Gives me time to get back on my van project. I just hope UPS keeps delivering parts as I order them and the people keep working where I'm ordering from!

    It's a new normal!

Crazy as all this is,this will change the world we live in. I can't imagine how long it's going to take to get everyone back to some kind of a normal??? Yesterday work let us know that are new possible return date is April 6th and we will go from there.(Awesome to be able to put extra time into the Van) I'm very fortunate that they are a big company and we're getting paid for now, but its anybody's guess whats coming next! Everyone please stay safe and healthy out there.

We might be in the perfect place for this. We live in a gated RV park 5 miles from the Canadian border, where a lot of the owners are Canadian, so since the border is closed they can't come down. Really nice and quiet here, can ride my bike and roller blade with no interference. Actually its no different than normal for us as I have a land development business where I help people get permits and I work at home from my recliner, so no change much. We have a small grocery store 4 miles away that's never busy so we can shop without crowds. Its been the perfect time to get the chip in my 94 Suburban adjusted, me and a guy in Vancouver WA mail the chip back and forth along with computer logs taken with TunerPro RT, ALDL cable hooks into computer and records the way the engine is reacting to the chip. The good news, while the Suburban is down waiting for a revised chip to arrive, get to drive the van, but nowhere to go right now. Wouldn't you know it, gas is less than $2 right now and don't need any.

Still, its really scary out there, I'm 74 so probably am at a lot of risk so we're laying really low. Be careful and stay healthy all.

    Thumbs up

In BC.. I canít work, the government is giving us money, gas is .77/liter, people stay away from you....AND my wife tells me I might as well work on my van! I could get used to this... All things aside this is scary, and everyone wants things to go back to normal.. sooner the better.

We ran out of toilet paper... luckily its spring so there is a bunch of that organic TP in the back yard. Gas is $1.29 so I filled all the gas cans, then filled the project cars. Otherwise, work hasn't slowed down much for me, just less traffic haha.
