    Wanted Roof Support Rail

    Howdy all,
I'm in search of a roof support rail if anyone has one in a donor vehicle they could sell and ship to Wisconsin. Please let me know if you can help.

I'm starting to rework the Turtle Top on my '68 108 and would like to add an additional roof support at the front of the turtle top. The rearmost roof support rail is perfect and i'd like a front one to match as i hopefully improve the connection between the camper and the van.

    Cheers,
    Ry

    Alternative roof support?

I hope you find an original support for your roof. As a possible alternative perhaps consider using electrical conduit. I made my own support over the cab area using 1/2 EMT to support a ceiling mounted Stereo console in my 66. My brother is an electrician and he helped me bend it to shape. I made a cardboard template to follow the roof arch and then we bent the tubing to match. We made it about 18" longer on each end so we could bent it 90 degrees to get support along the roof/wall intersection. Kinda over-bent it so it would spring fit tightly in place on its own. I then expoxied it in place, to the ceiling fabric cover og as well as over the door frame. The ceiling ribs are 3/4" thickness so could use 3/4 EMT and maybe even create a way to mechanically fasten it at the walls similiar to an original by creatively cutting/bending it as needed.

I'll look to see if I have pictures

Let us know how you make out.

              Great creative solution

              ShawnM,
Thanks for the good idea on a different solution. I'll keep that in mind, but want to go OEM for good welding interface this time around i think.
              Cheers,
              Ry
