Can anyone tell me what needs to be changed to go from 3 speed manual trans to powerglide trans? Will the drive shaft still work with the powerglide trans?

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Your driveshaft will work. The bellhousing/3speed is the same overall length as power glide, th350 short, and 200-4r, so you don't have to shorten the driveshaft when swapping in any of the aforementioned transmissions. All those automatics have 27 spline outputs. If you have the early sm-318 muncie 3 speed ('64-early '65), then I think those have a 16 spline output, so you'll have to change the yoke at the front of your driveshaft to match the 27 spline of the power glide. IIRC, the early non-synchro'd 3 speed muncie 318 transmissions had different 16 spline count on the output. If you have a late '65 or later van, you most likely have the saginaw 3 speed, which IIRC all had the 27 spline output. So in that event, the driveshaft and yoke should be the same on the 'glide.
What year van are you working on?
Welcome aboard.
